RATINGS

96James Suckling

The iron-rich soils of this single parcel deliver a strikingly spicy and seductively complex nose with a wealth of ripe red cherries and wildflowers in play. So much going on here. Fleshy and attractively juicy cherries on the palate. Very polished, long and defined tannins really impress.

95Jeb Dunnuck

Lots of savory redcurrants, dried strawberries, violets, black tea, and flowery incense notes...medium-bodied and has a vibrant, silky texture, the firmer (yet ripe) tannins of the vintage, terrific balance, and a great finish.

93The Wine Advocate

...scents of crunchy cranberry fruit, fresh strawberry and raspberry with accents of garrigue, lavender, pink peppercorn, rose petal, perfumed earth and meaty touches. Light to medium-bodied and silky textured, the palate is delicately intense with mineral-tinged fruits, fine-grained tannins and great freshness, finishing long and layered.

92Wine Spectator

Elegant and finely textured, with savory snap to the dried cherry and berry flavors. Cedar and spice notes emerge on the mineral-infused finish.

REGION

United States, California, Sonoma, Sonoma Coast

Sonoma Coast AVA runs from San Pablo Bay in the south to Mendocino County in the north. It includes 7,000 vineyard acres and earned AVA status in 1987. Its proximity to the Pacific Ocean means it gets double the rainfall of nearby inland appellations and the ocean gives the appellation a relatively cool climate. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir can thrive in these conditions, and there are numerous producers making critically acclaimed Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
