2016 Empire Estate Reserve Dry Riesling

Empire Estate was created to showcase dry Riesling from the Finger Lakes AVA in upstate New York. The deep lake basins moderate the temperatures of the vineyards planted on their steep banks of slate, shale, and gravel allowing vines to thrive in a protected cool microclimate ideal for Riesling and reminiscent of the Mosel and Rhine. These factors allow Empire Estate to produce Rieslings with greater complexity, weight, and texture than warmer climates on the West Coast of the United States allow.

This white variety originated in Germany. It’s known for its strong flowery aromas and high acidity. Please note Rieslings can have dramatic differences as the grape can be used to make dry, semi-sweet, sweet and sparkling wines.
