RATINGS

95James Suckling

This is big and chewy with lots of blackberry and hazelnut character. A full and flavorful red with structure and intensity...

95Wine Enthusiast

...bright, integrated, tamed in tannin and juicy. Gorgeous inviting aromatics make an immediate statement, opening the door for a stage of animated blueberry, blackberry and cassis. The texture is complex but supple and smooth.

94Jeb Dunnuck

...perfumed, complex beauty that’s already impossible to resist. Offering a touch of red fruit in its spice, dried flowers, cassis, and black raspberry bouquet, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a light, graceful texture, no hard edges, and a ripe, seamless profile...

93The Wine Advocate

...pure crushed black currants and black plums notes over hints of fallen leaves, fertile loam, aniseed, chargrill and olives. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers satisfying richness and depth with soft, fine-grained tannins and seamless acid, finishing long on a savory note.

92Wine Spectator

...lots of elasticity to the flavor and texture, mixing dark berry fruit with fresh earth, gravel and cedary oak notes, ending long and firm...

REGION

United States, California, Napa Valley, Oak Knoll

Oak Knoll AVA is one of Napa Valley’s newest appellations, having received that status in 2004. Located on the southern end of Napa Valley, the appellation is close to San Pablo Bay and therefore relatively cool. Of the 8,300 acres within the appellation, 4,150 are vineyards. The principal grapes grown are Merlot, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Riesling. Locals like to call Oak Knoll “the sweet spot” thanks to its location between the San Pablo Bay and its maritime climate and the much hotter climate of Napa Valley’s floor.

TYPE

Red Wine, Cabernet Sauvignon

One of the most widely grown grape varieties, it can be found in nearly every wine growing region. A cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. It’s a hardy vine that produces a full-bodied wine with high tannins and great aging potential.
