RATINGS

97Jeb Dunnuck

Notes of blueberries, blackberries, liquid violets, bay leaf, and spring flowers...gorgeously concentrated...ripe tannin and integrated acidity.

95+ The Wine Advocate

...opens with fragrant cassis, crushed blackberries and black cherries aromas plus touches of garrigue, lavender, damp earth and crushed rocks. Medium to full-bodied, elegant, fine and fresh, it has lovely silt-like tannins and freshness, possessing great poise and finishing on a lingering mineral note.

95James Suckling

...really impressive with a currant and red cherry character. Yet, it also shows fresh herbs and bark undertones. Full-bodied, chewy and flavorful. A serious tannin structure.

95Wine Enthusiast

...a chewy, substantially weighted and full-bodied red... Dark and brooding in savory fruit and herbal earthiness, it has a density that unfurls on the palate in slow waves of subtle blackberry and blueberry pie.

93Vinous / IWC

Inky blue/purplish fruit, gravel, lavender, graphite, smoke and cured meat overtones give the 2015 much of its beguiling, layered personality...a wine of real character.

REGION

United States, California, Napa Valley, Mount Veeder

Mount Veeder AVA was established in 1993, though its origins as a wine producing district date to the 19th century. A German Presbyterian pastor named Peter Veeder was one of the first landowners in the area, and by 1864 one of his neighbors, a German sea captain named Stelham Wing, was producing wine commercially. The area continued to attract German agricultural entrepreneurs, some of whom established the estate that would later become the Christian Brothers Mont La Salle winery. Today the AVA includes about 1,000 acres of vineyards, most of them at relatively high altitudes. The Mayacamas vineyard, for instance, is at 2,400 feet. Cabernet Sauvignon is the most frequently planted grape, followed by Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.

TYPE

Red Wine, Cabernet Sauvignon

One of the most widely grown grape varieties, it can be found in nearly every wine growing region. A cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. It’s a hardy vine that produces a full-bodied wine with high tannins and great aging potential.
