Rich and intense, this white features vanilla, butterscotch, pastry and citronella flavors, wrapped in a creamy texture. Firms up nicely midpalate. A light tannic element emerges on the long finish. A big, powerful version that needs a year or two to fully integrate.

Guy Amiot-Bonfils is a 32-acre estate in the Cote de Beaune. It is owned and operated by Guy Amiot and his son Thierry. The domaine has Grand Cru Montrachet and Premier Cru Chassange-Montrachet blanc and rouge. Amiot-Bonfils also has Premier Cru parcels in Puligny-Montrachet and Saint-Aubin. Clives Coates calls the domaine “a very good source.”

Les Champs Gains is an 11-acre Premier Cru vineyard in Chassagne-Montrachet in Burgundy’s Cote de Beaune. It is one of 51 Premier Crus in the appellation and it lies between 250 and 300 meters. The vineyard faces southeast. Robert M. Parker Jr. has written that “Chassagne-Montrachet is a treasure trove for outstanding Premier Cru vineyards. In fact, certain Premiers Crus…often achieve Grand Cru status in quality if not in name.”
