RATINGS

95James Suckling

Aromas of redcurrants, flowers and cedar with an air of freshness... The acidity is vibrant. Very fresh and sustained flavors at the finish.

94Wine Enthusiast

Firmly tannic, but also rich in ripe black-fruit tones...pure berry flavors shine through the structure and acidity.

92Vinous / IWC

...very pure with black cherries, red plum, mint and pine...palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine acidity and nicely structured with a touch of pepper and spicebox toward the finish.

90.8CellarTracker

16.5Jancis Robinson

Pure and aromatic with red-fruit and floral notes. Palate light- to medium-bodied but lively and pure. Lacks the density of a top year but lovely fruit and freshness. Filigree tannins so smooth and gentle.

PRODUCER

Château Durfort-Vivens

Château Durfort Vivens takes its name from the 11th century knights known as the Durfort of Duras, and early 19th century scientist Viscount Robert Labat de Vivens, who inherited the estate in 1824. In 1937 the estate was purchased by the owners of Château Margaux, mostly owned by Lurton family. Since 1992 Durfort Vivens has been run by Gonzague Vivens. The estate has 130 vineyard acres, and its second wines are Le Relais de Durfort Vivens and Vivens. The estate is biodynamic.

REGION

France, Bordeaux, Margaux

Margaux is one of Bordeaux’s most famous appellations and also one of its largest, with about 3,400 acres of vineyards. Located on the Left Bank of the Gironde River, Margaux has the greatest number of classified-growth châteaux (or crus classé) according to the 1855 classification. There are twenty-one crus classé, including the most famous estate, the first growth Château Margaux. The Margaux appellation includes vineyards around the village of Margaux and the villages of Arsac, Cantenac, d’Issan, Labarde and Soussans. Wines from the best Margaux châteaux and vintages are prized for their perfumey fragrance and elegant, silky mouthfeel. Margaux wines are predominately Cabernet Sauvignon blended with Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.
