RATINGS

94James Suckling

Fresh and pretty wine with blueberry and mineral aromas that follow through to a full body, salty undertones and a long and flavorful finish.

92+ The Wine Advocate

...opens with a powerful note of granite giving way to aromas of freshly sliced blueberries and crushed black cherries with accents of dried leaves, fresh pipe tobacco and hints of dried flowers and peppercorn... Medium-bodied, it gives concentrated blue and black fruits in the mouth with pretty notions of flowers, spice and a strong mineral line...grainy tannins and wonderful refreshing acidity to carry the long flavorful finish.

92Vinous / IWC

Highly perfumed, spice-accented red and dark berry scents pick up notes of pungent flowers, vanilla and smoky minerals with air. Juicy and energetic on the palate, offering concentrated black raspberry and cherry cola flavors along with hints of spicecake and mocha. Closes very long and spicy, featuring resonating red berry liqueur character and smooth tannins that add gentle grip.

92Wine Enthusiast

...unique aromatics deftly touch on fennel, bitter herbs and wet rock. Tart cranberry and pomegranate fruits lurk below...

90Wine Spectator

...cherry and black tea aromas and currant and mineral flavors that build tannins toward the finish.

17.5Jancis Robinson

...pretty floral nose with back notes of dried, dark earth and red plums moves into the palate bursting with acidity and flavourful fruits. Flavours here are mouth-watering and juicy with deft tannin management and lots of palate stimulation.

REGION

United States, Oregon, Willamette Valley

Willamette Valley AVA was established in 1983, and it is the oldest appellation in Oregon. Oregon’s modern wine industry began in the Willamette Valley in the 1960s when artists, vagabond winemakers, and U.C. Davis oenology graduates looking for new territory started their own, small, off-the-grid wineries. The appellation is the state’s largest, and it extends 175 miles from Columbia River on the Washington/Oregon border to just south of Eugene, near central Oregon. The Willamette River runs through the area, helping to give the appellation a mild year-round climate. There are six smaller sub-appellations within this AVA, but altogether the Willamette Valley has the largest concentration of wineries in Oregon, as well as the majority of the state’s most famous producers. Pinot Noir is king here, followed by Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Riesling. To most admirers of Oregon Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley offers the most distinctive wine choices in the state.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
