RATINGS

Cool aromas of liquid stone, hazelnut and spice. Very intense, austere and powerful, with the lovely touch of sweetness balanced by gripping acids. Has the sugar/acid balance and depth of flavor of a great dry riesling from Alsace.

Bright citrus and wet stone aromas with wonderfully rich, nicely defined flavors and grand cru intensity and length. There is a touch of toasty oak spice that comes through on the palate but there appears to be enough density...

PRODUCER

Domaine Jacques Prieur

Domaine Jacques Prieur is in Meursault, Burgundy. The estate owns or leases a total of 50 acres, including excellent parcels in Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet Les Combettes, Musigny, Chambertin and Chambertin-Clos de Beze. The estate is owned by the Prieur family and Antonin Rodet. The estate makes Grand Cru and Premier Cru red and white Burgundy.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Beaune, Meursault, Les Perrieres

Les Perrieres is 34-acre Premier Cru vineyard in Meursault, in Burgundy’s Cote de Beaune. The vineyard includes several sub parcels. They are the 2.4-acre monopole Clos des Perrieres, which belongs to Domaine Albert Grivault, and Les Perrieres Dessous. Because Les Perrieres is in southern Meursault next to Puligny, the Les Perrieres Meursaults are considered to have more minerality than other Meursaults. Burgundy writer Clive Coates has noted that “Perrieres is perhaps the most elegant and persistent of the premier crus. At its best, it is positively brilliant…” Since Meursault lacks a Grand Cru, Meursault’s reputation for excellence is based on the Premier Crus, particularly the whites.

TYPE

White Wine, Chardonnay, 1er (Premier) Cru

This white variety originated in Burgundy, but is now grown around the world. Its flexibility to thrive in many regions translates to wide flavor profile in the market. Chardonnay is commonly used in making Champagne and sparkling wines.
