Meyer- Näkel

Meyer-Näkel was founded in 1950 when Paula Meyer married Willibald Näkel and the newlyweds started cultivating 4.5 acres of vineyards. The estate is in the Ahr valley, which is Germany’s northernmost red wine region. Despite its relatively high latitude, the valley offers steep south-facing slopes perfect for vineyards. Today Meyer-Näkel has nearly 30 vineyard acres and is still owned and managed by the Meyer-Näkel family. The estate produces Pinot Noir. Jancis Robison has written that “It would not be exaggerating to say that Meyer-Näkel makes some of the most outstanding Spatburgunder in Germany.”
