RATINGS

93Wine Spectator

A chunky block of cherry, raspberry, sweet smoke and stone flavors, locked in a grip of tannins, with plenty of rich, ripe fruit to match...

92Vinous / IWC

...Very perfumed, floral bouquet with scents of crushed flower and chalk permeating the red cherry and strawberry fruit...The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, tightening up in the middle to form a more sinewy, backward finish...

90-93Burghound.com

...Velvety, round and seductively textured medium-bodied flavors also possess excellent volume and mid-palate concentration with a very high level of phenolic maturity to the firm supporting tannins on the moderately austere and rustic finale...

17Jancis Robinson

...Serious concentration on the palate. Promises very well for the future. Rather dry finish at present but well constructed in old-school style.

PRODUCER

Henri Gouges is a 45-acre estate in Nuits-Saint-Georges, in Burgundy’s Cote de Nuits. It was founded in the early 20th century by Henri Gouges and is today owned and operated by his grandsons, Pierre and Christian. The domaine has Premier Cru parcels in Nuits-Saints-Georges, including its monopole Clos-des-Porrets-Nuits-Saint-Georges. It also makes a limited production white Premier Cru which Clive Coates says “bears no resemblance to Chardonnay. Coates calls the domaine’s winemaking “magnificent.”
