RATINGS

**IWC - David Schildknecht

...most intense imaginable concentration of fresh, jellied and candied fruits, citrus, and mineral salts. If tasting the #23 was like swallowing an electric eel, this is like getting hooked up to a generator...

99The Wine Advocate

...distillate of yellow plums, apricot and red raspberries, this displays enormous concentration, fat, thickness and sweetness on the palate... ...not at all cloying, and indeed positively animated... ...concentration, complexity, purity...

96Wine Spectator

Classic eiswein, exhibiting the sweet/tart profile and intense, concentrated flavors of apricot, preserved lemon, mineral and vanilla pastry.

19Jancis Robinson

Amazing syrupy density and life. Wonderful tingle and nerve. All Eiswein should be like this.

93Vinous / IWC

Sleek, glossy fruit displays a fine balance between vibrant acidity and succulent residual sugar. Quite poised and impressively long on the finish.

PRODUCER

H. Donnhoff

H. Donnhoff is a 32-acre estate in Oberhausen/Nahe, in southwestern Germany. The appellation is the very small Nahe appellation, and Helmut Donnhoff has been making noteworthy wines on his steep hillside vineyards there for more than 30 years. The estate itself has been in his family since 1750. Vineyards are planted to 75% Riesling, 25% Weissburgunder and Granburgunder. About 7,000 bottles are produced annually. Wine writer Hugh Johnson described Helmut Donnhoff as having “a fanatical commitment to quality, and a remarkable natural talent for winemaking.” The estate’s Rieslings are considered among the world’s best.
