RATINGS

95Wine Enthusiast

...complex and integrated, with intriguing aspects of leather, earth and truffle. Soft and supple, it shows flavors of clove, tart red raspberry and cassis, and is deliciously memorable in every way.

93Wine Spectator

Fresh in feel, with red currant, raspberry and damson plum fruit, laced with floral hints and backed by a subtle mineral edge on the finish. Offers a pure, streamlined character. Well done.

93James Suckling

Aromas of ripe fruit with blackcurrants, dark chocolate, hazelnuts and spices that follow through to a medium to full body with very fine tannins. A linear and fresh finish. Shows tightness and focus...

92Vinous / IWC

...bold, luscious and gracious...mid-weight style... Floral overtones add freshness to this super-expressive Cabernet Sauvignon. Rose petal, lavender, licorice, mint and dark cherry fruit get an extra kick of vibrancy...gorgeous wine...

91Jeb Dunnuck

...lots of cassis, leafy herbs, some damp earth, and sappy spring flower aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied, beautifully balanced, and downright elegant...terrific purity, balance, and length...

17+ Jancis Robinson

... Vibrant aromas of red and black cherries, fresh blackcurrant and savoury spices. Very enticing. Great purity on the palate, with weightless intensity of dark fruit and harmonious acidity. The tannins are soft and very refined, gently framing the fruit. Cool and well-proportioned...

REGION

United States, California, Napa Valley, St. Helena

St. Helena AVA is at the northern end of Napa Valley just north of Rutherford and south of Calistoga. It is a relatively warm climate thanks to the Mayacamas Mountains on its western edge, which protect it from Pacific Ocean fog. Out of the 9,000 acres in the appellation, some 1,500 are under vine. The principal grapes grown in St. Helena are the Bordeaux grapes of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. St. Helena is considered prime wine producing territory, and it was one of the first important wine producing regions in northern California. The legendary Charles Krug founded his winery just north of the town of St. Helena in 1873, and today the appellation is home to many prestigious producers, including Abreu, Grace Family and Spottswoode.

TYPE

Red Wine, Cabernet Sauvignon

One of the most widely grown grape varieties, it can be found in nearly every wine growing region. A cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. It’s a hardy vine that produces a full-bodied wine with high tannins and great aging potential.
