Abbaye de Lerins is is on the Ile Saint-Honorat, an island off the coast of Cannes. The monastery is home to Cistercian monks, who since the mid-19th century have made wine on their property. The estate has 20 acres of vineyards and produces white blends and Syrah.
This grape is grown in milder climates and produces a medium-to full-bodied wine. It is also known as Shiraz, but should not be confused with Petit Sirah, which was developed by crossing Syrah with Peloursin.
