Estimate
Brown-spiced pear liqueur and quince...wreathed in perfume of freesia and lily...buoyancy and elegance...enormous richness of texture and residual sweetness... Its sense of lift – when combined with luscious, still juicy suggestions of grapefruit and blood orange familiar from the corresponding demi-sec – wards off any risk of palate fatigue. Mysterious botrytis manifestations of stale bread, truffle, and white raisin emerge from the empty glass.
Expansive aromas of caramelized apricot, white peach, date, banana and butter cream are layered in the noble botrytis. Rich, spicy tropical fruits coat the palate, but a finely chiseled, chalky minerality keep this chenin blanc remarkably light on its feet. Dense but not at all heavy, it finishes long and not at all cloying. Delicious.
