RATINGS

92Wine Spectator

Features a sturdy backbone to the wild berry and plum flavors. Details of Earl Grey tea, mineral, dried thyme and white pepper pick up momentum on the finish.

17Jancis Robinson

...Attractive aromas that bring together sweetness of red fruit, a peppery spice and a nice earthy note, plus even a light floral touch. Really perfumed. Utterly moreish on the palate, the fruit sweetness balanced by those spicy flavours and the finest of tannins. Lightly dry finish but extremely persistent, the oak well in the background but adding extra spice and richness and adding to the savoury aftertaste. Well balanced...

WineBid Tasting Team

Garnet core with a ruby rim; expressive nose of cola, dark cherries and complex spice tones; on the palate plenty of acidity but not overbearing; medium weight with a core of concentrated red fruit, underbrush and a touch of mushroom.

Winemaker

Crystal clear ruby red...aromas of vanilla and candied Christmas fruit. (After an hour) aromas of tamarillo and baking spices...clear and precise in the mouth with volume and continuity...tannins are fine and chalky

PRODUCER

Erewhon

Erewhon is an anagram for “nowhere” and a tribute to the remote and isolated New Zealand vineyards where its grapes are hand-harvested. The wine is 100% Pinot Noir, made from the best fruit of Waipara and Central Otago. The winemaker, CP Lin, was born in Taiwan and has been blind since the age of two. His lack of sight has never slowed his ambition or talent. He has made a name for himself working around Europe, the U.S, Australia and New Zealand for the last 18 years. With 430 cases of the prized 2013 vintage, he is poised to send his “nowhere” to everywhere.

REGION

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
