Sweet and deeply concentrated, offering palate-staining black and blue fruit, exotic spice and candied violet flavors that show superb definition and are supported by a spine of smoky minerality. For this wine's depth and power, it's almost shockingly graceful.
This 2017 Steinert Flaxman’s Shiraz is spicy and very long. The oak is still prominent, but the fruit has an opulence and plushness beneath it that shows the longevity of the wine. This has not reached its first peak yet. (September 2022)
Toasted herb, chicory, green tea, tar and loamy earth notes mingle with muscular, sink-your-teeth-into-them tannins and blueberry and blackberry flavors. Firms up on the finish but shows tremendous focus and concentration.
Loads of cracked black pepper and green pepper character with some dried stem and black fruits. It’s full-bodied and tannin driven. Lots of cloves at the end, too.
