RATINGS

95James Suckling

Ripe aromas of dark fruit with chili, spice and dried flowers. Chocolate and cinnamon, too. Full-bodied and tight with very finely honed tannins and a chewy yet caressing texture. Medium finish.

95Wine Enthusiast

...toasted wood and black cherry, with complementary elements of dried herb and sage. With a well-structured grip to the palate, it is elegant and complex, with a harmonious end note of baking spice.

94Jeb Dunnuck

Lots of darker chocolate, blue and black fruits, toasted spice, and flowery incense notes...another rich, powerful, concentrated wine from this estate.

93Vinous / IWC

Bright floral and spice notes lead into a core of red/purplish berry fruit in an attractive, mid-weight wine that impresses with its poise.

92The Wine Advocate

...bold expressions of stewed black and red plums, boysenberries and blackcurrants, plus hints of dried Provence herbs and wild mushrooms. Medium to full-bodied, the texture is firm and grainy, supporting the intense black fruit flavors with a lively backbone, finishing long and lifted.

90Wine Spectator

Fresh and direct, with a seemingly soft-edged mix of red currant and plum compote flavors cruising through. There's a light frame, adding form and a subtle iron underpinning for structure and length.

REGION

United States, California, Napa Valley, Oak Knoll

Oak Knoll AVA is one of Napa Valley’s newest appellations, having received that status in 2004. Located on the southern end of Napa Valley, the appellation is close to San Pablo Bay and therefore relatively cool. Of the 8,300 acres within the appellation, 4,150 are vineyards. The principal grapes grown are Merlot, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Riesling. Locals like to call Oak Knoll “the sweet spot” thanks to its location between the San Pablo Bay and its maritime climate and the much hotter climate of Napa Valley’s floor.

TYPE

Red Wine, Cabernet Sauvignon

One of the most widely grown grape varieties, it can be found in nearly every wine growing region. A cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. It’s a hardy vine that produces a full-bodied wine with high tannins and great aging potential.
