RATINGS

95The Wine Advocate

...it opens with graphite and cedar that give way to black cherries, pipe tobacco, mushroom and potpourri. Medium to full-bodied, it balances concentrated fruits with bright freshness, has a supple frame and finishes with great length and earthy accents.

94Vinous / IWC

Silky tannins wrap around a core of dark red fruit, mocha, blood orange, cinnamon, pomegranate and sweet spice. Generous dollops of Grenache, Cabernet Franc and Viognier add notable brightness and aromatic presence to the Syrah fruit.

93Jeb Dunnuck

...lots of pure blackberry and plum fruits as well as classic Syrah ground pepper, leather, and assorted meatiness. Rich, medium to full-bodied, and concentrated on the palate, with impressive structure and tannins...

REGION

United States, California, Central Coast

Central Coast AVA is a huge wine producing area that extends from Santa Barbara County in the south to San Francisco in the north. With more than 100,000 vineyard acres, it includes parts of six counties near the Pacific Ocean. Nearly 20 smaller AVAs lie within the Central Coast AVA. Central Coast earned appellation status in 1985. Included in the appellation are parts of the counties of Contra Costa, Monterey, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara and Santa Cruz. Nearly every grape varietal grown in California is grown somewhere in the Central Coast AVA, though Chardonnay accounts for nearly 50% of the entire wine grape crop.
