RATINGS

91-94Stephen Tanzer

Currant, plum, cranberry, mocha and cocoa powder on the nose, lifted by a note of blood orange. Lush on entry, then concentrated and seamless in the mid-palate, with lovely saline complexity and mineral sap to the dark fruit flavors. Finishes with distinctly cool tannins and sneaky persistence.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanee, Les Suchots

Les Suchots is a 33-acre Premier Cru in Vosne-Romanee, in Burgundy’s Cote de Nuits. The vineyard is at the same elevation as Romanee-Saint-Vivant. Its neighbors are Romanee-Saint-Vivant and Richebourg on the south and Les Echezeaux to the north.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, 1er (Premier) Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
