RATINGS

96Wine Enthusiast

...softly round and richly structured, with a backbone of silky tannin and integrated oak. Black cherry and toffee mocha stand out most prominently around savory characteristics of sage, graphite and pencil.

94-96The Wine Advocate

...vibrant black currant, blackberries and violets notions with hints of black soil, roses and cigar box. The palate is full-bodied and concentrated with firm, grainy tannins and loads of earthy/mineral layers, finishing long and perfumed.

94James Suckling

Lots of blackberries and wet earth. Full-bodied, dense and compact with pretty framing. Extremely long and flavorful.

93Wine Spectator

Dense and slightly chewy in feel, with intense black currant, fig and blackberry paste flavors supported by a tarry spine and rumbling through a ganache- and roasted alder–accented finish.

REGION

United States, California, Napa Valley, Yountville

Yountville AVA is just west of Stags Leap and north of Oak Knoll. It is centered around the town of Yountville, named for George Yountville, who planted the area’s first vineyard in 1836. The district received appellation status in 1999 and it includes 4,000 vineyard acres. It is known for tannic Cabernet Sauvignon that has a reputation for aging well. Dominus Estate, formerly Napanook Vineyard, is one of the most prestigious producers in Yountville, and in all of Napa Valley.

TYPE

Red Wine, Cabernet Sauvignon

One of the most widely grown grape varieties, it can be found in nearly every wine growing region. A cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. It’s a hardy vine that produces a full-bodied wine with high tannins and great aging potential.
