RATINGS

94Vinous / IWC

... Vibrant, mineral-accented cherry pit, peach, raspberry and melon scents... Stains the palate with incisive red berry, citrus fruit and lavender flavors...superb tension and intense mineral character on the strikingly long finish, which leaves bitter quinine and blood orange notes behind.

91Jeb Dunnuck

... Tangerine, peach and hints of rose petal all emerge from this beautiful, supple, forward beauty that has plenty of fruit, integrated acidity and a plump, utterly delicious style.

90The Wine Advocate

...outstanding quality...classic rose petal, spice cherry and hints of strawberry in a supple, medium-bodied, textured style...

90Wine Spectator

This has a lovely balance of zip and richness, with peach, mango and blood orange notes, lifted by bright savory and rosemary accents. Shows a stony edge on the finish.

17Jancis Robinson

... Little bit of satsuma, bit of pomegranate, hint of spice. Definitely spicy on the palate! Wow – such a difference... Real oomph... Bold. Almost meaty. Lots in the mid palate and lovely chewy structure...elegant and confident.

REGION

France, Provence, Bandol

Provence is the region on the Mediterranean coast of southeastern France known for sun-drenched Lavender fields and an easy-going, gracious attitude toward life. Until the last few decades it was also known for producing large quantities of unremarkable rosé, often sold in bulk. Today its most famous wines are still rosés, but their quality has improved dramatically. Notable red wines are also being made in Provence, particularly in Bandol, a tiny appellation east of Marseille. The largest appellation is Côtes de Provence. Other appellations include Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence, Côtes du Luberon, Cassis, Bellet, Palette and Les Baux de Provence. Red and white wines are made throughout the region, despite the attention paid to rosé. Red wine grapes grown in Provence are Carignan, Cinsault, Grenache, Mourvedre, Syrah and some Cabernet Sauvignon. White wine grapes are Clairette, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Bourboulenc and Ugni Blanc.
