RATINGS

93Vinous / IWC

...plump, juicy and quite seductive. Sweet red cherry, rose petal, mint, spice, licorice, anise and citrus. The supple, creamy finish makes this a very pretty wine.

93James Suckling

Ripe character to this with aromas of plums, blackberries, blue flowers, walnuts and chocolate. Some earthy notes, too. Medium-to full-bodied with a soft, creamy texture and fine, polished tannins. Fresh and delicious with a sleek, fruity finish.

92Wine Enthusiast

...a creamy wine, with ripe fruits lifted by the citrus edge of acidity. A touch of minerality accompanies the creamed-apple and floral character...

92Jeb Dunnuck

Lots of redcurrants, darker berry fruits, sandalwood, sappy tobacco, and spicy oak notes...a wonderfully elegant, medium-bodied, seamless Pessac that shows the style of the vintage beautifully.

91Wine Spectator

Lively, with a brambly streak amid red currant and loganberry fruit flavors, while light sanguine and singed cedar notes check in on the finish.

89-91The Wine Advocate

...spicy nose of cloves, cinnamon toast and cumin seed with a core of warm blackberries, boysenberries and black raspberries plus a waft of pencil shavings. Medium-bodied, the palate has bags of juicy black fruit and a soft texture, finishing refreshing and with a peppery kick.

REGION

France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

Pessac-Léognan was created in 1987 from the northern part of the left bank Graves appellation. Before then it was simply part of Graves, or sometimes it was called Haut-Graves. Unlike many other Bordeaux appellations, Pessac-Léognan is known for both red and dry white wines, although its reds are more famous. The appellation includes ten communes and the area’s most important châteaux, including Château Haut-Brion, the only non-Médoc estate included in the 1855 Bordeaux classification. There are 2,964 acres of vineyards in Pessac-Léognan and 16 classified growth estates. The main red grapes grown are Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, along with a small amount of Cabernet Franc. White grapes grown are Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, with a little Muscadelle. Pessac-Léognan is considered to have the best terroir of the greater Graves region.
