RATINGS

97Robert M. Parker Jr.

Notes of gunflint, camphor, scorched earth and an almost primordial, brooding richness and intensity. Blackberry and cassis are the fruit flavors..smokiness and lots of thickness and richness. This is..massive, very intense,

91Vinous / IWC

Chalk, smoke, herbs, dried stone fruits and wild flowers add nuance, but the fruit never seems to fully emerge. Overall, the Obsidian feels a bit compact and lacking in mid-palate depth.

TYPE

Red Wine, Syrah (Shiraz)

This grape is grown in milder climates and produces a medium-to full-bodied wine. It is also known as Shiraz, but should not be confused with Petit Sirah, which was developed by crossing Syrah with Peloursin.
