RATINGS

97James Suckling

This is a glorious red with density and compressed character to the mouthfeel. Pure and very focused with crushed berries, orange peel and sandalwood. Edgeless. Exciting. Tight, yet so characterful and great.

96Vinous / IWC

A wine of tremendous persistence...dark and virile, with a phenomenally long finish laced with hints of savory herbs, lavender and graphite.

95Wine Spectator

Rich and contoured, with ferrous notes to the well-structured red currant, dark cherry and dried blackberry flavors. Supple minerality shows on the spicy finish, where light creamy accents linger.

95Jeb Dunnuck

...ripe, sexy notes of black raspberries, toasted spices, orange blossom, and violets. It's a rich, sweetly fruited, plush beauty with ripe tannins, beautiful overall balance, and great finish.

94The Wine Advocate

...hints of fresh cranberries, tar, blackberries, blood orange and oolong tea leaves. The medium-bodied palate is packed with juicy fruits, wrapped in a fresh, silky frame and finishing very long.

REGION

United States, California, Sonoma, Sonoma Coast

Sonoma Coast AVA runs from San Pablo Bay in the south to Mendocino County in the north. It includes 7,000 vineyard acres and earned AVA status in 1987. Its proximity to the Pacific Ocean means it gets double the rainfall of nearby inland appellations and the ocean gives the appellation a relatively cool climate. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir can thrive in these conditions, and there are numerous producers making critically acclaimed Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
