RATINGS

93Burghound.com

An expressive and very pure nose is composed of aromas of hazelnut, citrus, acacia blossom and extract of peach and apricot...terrific underlying tension and plenty of minerality to the medium-bodied flavors

92Vinous / IWC

Sweeps across the palate with notable breadth, creaminess and volume. Layers of yellow-fleshed fruit and sweet spices blossom in the glass... There is plenty of energy and depth

91The Wine Advocate

A slightly austere bouquet with touches of white flower and melted butter developing with aeration, while maintaining fine delineation and focus. The palate is clean and fresh with good acidity, vibrant citrus fruit

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Beaune, Meursault, Les Charmes

Les Charmes, at 78 acres, is Meursault’s largest Premier Cru vineyard. Like its neighboring Premier Crus, Les Genevrieres and Les Perrieres, is is south of the commune of Meursault and very close to Puligny-Montrachet. Since Meursault lacks a Grand Cru, Meursault’s reputation for excellence is based on the Premier Crus, particularly the whites. Les Charmes abuts Puligny-Montrachet. Burgundy writer Clive Coates writes that “there is an attractive, soft flowery character to a Charmes: peach blossom, delicately nutty, gently honeyed.”

TYPE

White Wine, Chardonnay, 1er (Premier) Cru

This white variety originated in Burgundy, but is now grown around the world. Its flexibility to thrive in many regions translates to wide flavor profile in the market. Chardonnay is commonly used in making Champagne and sparkling wines.
