RATINGS

96Jeb Dunnuck

...stunning complexity paired with richness, depth, and precision. Fabulous notes of white peach, tart pineapple, salty minerality, and white flowers all flow to a medium to full-bodied, racy Chardonnay with terrific concentration, high yet integrated acidity, and a great finish.

95Vinous / IWC

...richer and more textured...tremendous energy and drive. Tangerine peel, almond, white flowers and light tropical notes grace this layered, utterly exquisite Chardonnay. The interplay of richness and vibrancy is simply compelling.

94Wine Enthusiast

A compelling combination of citrus, struck flint and expertly integrated fine oak aromas...wafts of sea salt, lemongrass and lemon preserves on toast arise. The palate is grippy in texture, combining white peach crème brûlée flavors, with smashed stone and bright lemon zest.

92+ The Wine Advocate

...toast, smoke and gunflint notions to begin, giving way to lemon pith, cream and stony scents...white peach with citrus blossom and honey in the background. It's medium-bodied and minerally in the mouth, with tangy acidity and a long, precise finish.

REGION

United States, California, Santa Cruz Mountains

Santa Cruz Mountains AVA includes high elevation territory in the counties of Santa Clara, Santa Cruz and San Mateo. The AVA follows the coast line from San Francisco to Monterey with elevations from 400 feet to 3,000 feet above sea level. There are 1,500 vineyard acres and the AVA was established in 1981. Despite the challenging terrain in these rugged mountains and hills, highly esteemed wineries have been located here since the early 20th century, when Paul Masson, a Frenchman by birth, started making sparkling wine in the area. By the 1970s vineyards were growing Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Numerous microclimates within the AVA offer viticulturists diverse growing conditions, and many varietals are grown successfully.

TYPE
