RATINGS

92The Wine Advocate

Red and blue-fruited aromas mix with woody, savory tones and a high-toned, refreshing energy. The palate is silky and delicate yet impressively saturated and structured, closing with elegant minerality and soft fruits on the finish.

92Jeb Dunnuck

Ashy, earthy, and forested, the aromatics rise to the top of the experience, perfumed in dried rose petal, violet, and lavender...has balance and length, with a lasting hit of black tea and citrus peel.

91Vinous / IWC

...flinty blend of dried flowers, incense and crushed green apples...crisp and energetic within, with crunchy mineral tones contrasting its ripe orchard fruits as a flourish of sweet spice enhances the finish.

REGION

United States, California, Central Coast, San Benito County, Cienega Valley

Central Coast AVA is a huge wine producing area that extends from Santa Barbara County in the south to San Francisco in the north. With more than 100,000 vineyard acres, it includes parts of six counties near the Pacific Ocean. Nearly 20 smaller AVAs lie within the Central Coast AVA. Central Coast earned appellation status in 1985. Included in the appellation are parts of the counties of Contra Costa, Monterey, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara and Santa Cruz. Nearly every grape varietal grown in California is grown somewhere in the Central Coast AVA, though Chardonnay accounts for nearly 50% of the entire wine grape crop.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
