RATINGS

91Wine Spectator

A dark, rich, potent wine, with layers of complex currant, blackberry, cedar and spice, it's tightly focused, firm and concentrated, finishing with a tight band of tannins, but also excellent structure.

PRODUCER

Kobalt

Kobalt is an artisanal producer in Napa. It was started in 2001 by Kevin Carriker, who worked in vineyards and cellars in Napa and Bordeaux before acquiring a small vineyard in southeastern Napa Valley. With help from consulting winemaker and entrepreneur Mark Herold, Carriker now makes about 20 barrels of Cabernet Sauvignon annually. Kobalt also makes Port and Sauvignon Blanc.

TYPE

Red Wine, Cabernet Sauvignon

One of the most widely grown grape varieties, it can be found in nearly every wine growing region. A cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. It’s a hardy vine that produces a full-bodied wine with high tannins and great aging potential.
