RATINGS

93Wine Spectator

Ripe pears, honeyed lemon, spice, and brioche notes...lively, medium-bodied, balanced Sonoma Coast Chardonnay that has a beautiful sense of purity as well as minerality.

92The Wine Advocate

...opens slowly to beeswax, dried white flowers, crushed shell and lemon cream aromas. The palate is light-bodied, silky and mineral driven with bright, yeasty fruits and a long, perfumed finish.

92James Suckling

An herbal nose of sage, thyme and wild flowers with notes of lemon peel and sliced apple as well. Medium-bodied with good weight. Nutmeg, white pepper and vanilla on the palate. Wet-stone finish.

91Vinous / IWC

...pretty, airy and bright wine. Citrus peel, dried flowers, spice and chamomile are some of the notes that grace this exquisite, understated Chardonnay from Freeman.

REGION

United States, California, Sonoma, Sonoma Coast

Sonoma Coast AVA runs from San Pablo Bay in the south to Mendocino County in the north. It includes 7,000 vineyard acres and earned AVA status in 1987. Its proximity to the Pacific Ocean means it gets double the rainfall of nearby inland appellations and the ocean gives the appellation a relatively cool climate. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir can thrive in these conditions, and there are numerous producers making critically acclaimed Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

TYPE

White Wine, Chardonnay

This white variety originated in Burgundy, but is now grown around the world. Its flexibility to thrive in many regions translates to wide flavor profile in the market. Chardonnay is commonly used in making Champagne and sparkling wines.
