RATINGS

94Jeb Dunnuck

...tinge of green and has a lovely incense of delicate toast lifting from the glass, followed by notes of white flowers, fresh green pear, and pleasing reduction...on the palate, this wine is medium to full-bodied, with a pithy, chalky texture.

93+ Vinous / IWC

...dreamy, blending confectionary spices with chamomile and mint before giving way to freshly sliced nectarines and lime zest...supple and round with depths of ripe apple and pear, further intensified by brisk acidity as crunchy mineral tones slowly saturate...saline tinge lingers along with sweet tannins as the mouth waters for more through the long and wickedly fresh finale.

92The Wine Advocate

...core of stone fruit is accented by touches of honey, lemon curd and citrus blossoms on the nose...light-bodied palate is silky and refreshing with concentrated, softly honeyed flavors and a long, energetic finish.

16.5+ Jancis Robinson

Some real richness on the palate, but structure, too.

REGION

United States, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Eola-Amity Hills

Willamette Valley AVA was established in 1983, and it is the oldest appellation in Oregon. Oregon’s modern wine industry began in the Willamette Valley in the 1960s when artists, vagabond winemakers, and U.C. Davis oenology graduates looking for new territory started their own, small, off-the-grid wineries. The appellation is the state’s largest, and it extends 175 miles from Columbia River on the Washington/Oregon border to just south of Eugene, near central Oregon. The Willamette River runs through the area, helping to give the appellation a mild year-round climate. There are six smaller sub-appellations within this AVA, but altogether the Willamette Valley has the largest concentration of wineries in Oregon, as well as the majority of the state’s most famous producers. Pinot Noir is king here, followed by Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Riesling. To most admirers of Oregon Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley offers the most distinctive wine choices in the state.
