Darker, more concentrated, as well as more structured than the Seven Hills Vineyard, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon offers lots of black currants, barbecue smoke, licorice and tar to go with a full-bodied, structured feel on the palate. This is a great wine, but you’ll need plenty of patience, and I suspect the score will be seem low once this is at maturity. Give bottles 5-6 years and drink through 2032.
Bright medium ruby. Cool, classic, highly nuanced Cabernet Sauvignon aromas of currant, black cherry, dried herbs, minerals, tobacco leaf and loam. More complex and less adamantly black in its fruit character than the 2013 version, with suave flavors of cassis, licorice and wild herbs enlivened by a touch of sour cherry. Finishes very long and youthfully reserved, with substantial ripe tannins.
