RATINGS

91Wine Spectator

Firm and focused, displaying ripeness and a creamy texture. The flavors range from flint and white pepper to peach and citrus. Nice lingering finish.

18Jancis Robinson

Much more reticent on the nose with very strong mineral notes. Still quite astringent and very dry. Positively chewy on the finish.

PRODUCER

Prager

Prager is in Austria’s Wachau valley. It is owned and operated by Ilse and Toni Bodenstein. Ilse inherited the estate from her father and she and her husband produce Riesling and Gruner Veltliner. Robert M. Parker Jr. has been awarded the wines scores in the 90s and notes that Toni Bodenstein has taken the winery “to the outer limits of complexity achievable in dry Riesling.”

TYPE

White Wine, Riesling, Smaragd

This white variety originated in Germany. It’s known for its strong flowery aromas and high acidity. Please note Rieslings can have dramatic differences as the grape can be used to make dry, semi-sweet, sweet and sparkling wines.
