RATINGS

92Wine Spectator

Fresh and vibrant, broad but not heavy, with juicy cherry, cedar and spice flavors on a taut frame, spreading nicely on the finish.

92Wine Enthusiast

Generous and fruit-driven, this brings fully ripened black cherry and blueberry fruit into a thick core of flavor. Its tannins are coated with espresso, dark chocolate and a hint of baking spices. Flavors are solid and substantial, and the wine will continue to evolve nicely as it sheds its baby fat.

91The Wine Advocate

It has an open-knit bouquet with light black fruit infused with a subtle marine influence. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, supple in the mouth, and harmonious with well-integrated new oak (30%) on the finish.

REGION

United States, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Yamhill-Carlton

Yamhill-Carlton AVA is located in Yamhill and Washington Counties, and it is entirely contained within the Willamette Valley AVA, Oregon’s most prestigious wine producing region. It has 1,200 vineyard acres and was awarded AVA status in 2004. The region grows Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Dolcetto, Muscat, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris. Ken Wright Cellars, Elk Cove Vineyards and WillaKenzie Estate are among the district’s best-known producers. All focus on Pinot Noir.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
