RATINGS

92James Suckling

Round and fruity with chocolate and berry character and mineral. It's coming around beautifully with soft fruit. Delicious. This is the first year of consultant Hubert de Bouard.

90Wine Spectator

A polished, modern style, with alluring layers of plum sauce, black forest cake, blueberry, graphite and mocha. The ripe, rounded finish builds nicely, showing latent depth and length.

90Stephen Tanzer

Aromas of raspberry, currant, licorice and spicy oak. Suave on entry, then broad and fine-grained in the middle, with a sneaky intensity to the flavors of raspberry and spice.

PRODUCER

Anwilka

Anwilka is in the Stellenbosch appellation of South Africa. It was established in 1997 when several Bordeaux producers teamed up with the co-owner of Klein Constantia, one of South Africa’s major wine producers. Anwilka’s founders are Bruno Prats and Hubert de Bouard de Laforest, both from Bordeaux producing families, and Lowell Jooste, of Klein Constantia. In 2011 Klein Constantia was bought by businessmen Zdenek Bakala and Charles Harman, and Anwilka merged with the larger Klein Constantia.
