RATINGS

96James Suckling

...enormous depth and concentration, but also a minty note and great candied lemon and mineral freshness at the long finish.

94-95The Wine Advocate

...displays a cool, precise and extremely flinty bouquet of white-fleshed stone fruits. Intense and rich on the palate, this is an elegant, dense and tightly woven wine with great concentration, grip and expression.

93Wine Spectator

There is plenty of substance to this dense, plush white, which is beautifully balanced, with peach, elderflower, apple and spice flavors holding court, and an underlying accent of stone. Long, complex finish.

92Vinous / IWC

Ripe white peach and apple are tinged with violet perfume and laced with cooling green herbs on the nose as well as on an admirably juicy, polished, glossy palate. The usual stony and chalky notes of this site are joined by smoky, struck-flint inflections and piquant peach kernel in a gripping, high-energy finish.

PRODUCER

Prager

Prager is in Austria’s Wachau valley. It is owned and operated by Ilse and Toni Bodenstein. Ilse inherited the estate from her father and she and her husband produce Riesling and Gruner Veltliner. Robert M. Parker Jr. has been awarded the wines scores in the 90s and notes that Toni Bodenstein has taken the winery “to the outer limits of complexity achievable in dry Riesling.”

TYPE

White Wine, Riesling, Smaragd

This white variety originated in Germany. It’s known for its strong flowery aromas and high acidity. Please note Rieslings can have dramatic differences as the grape can be used to make dry, semi-sweet, sweet and sparkling wines.
