Silvio Giamello

Silvio Giamello is the proprietor of a family estate that dates to 1900, when his great grandfather started farming in the Langhe region of Piedmont. The farm had orchards, field crops and livestock as well as a few grapevines for making the family’s wine. In the 1950s the family started a trucking business to augment their farm income, but by the 1970s as the Italian wine industry grew the Giamellos turned back to winemaking, this time with the goal of selling their wine commercially. Today the estate grows Nebbiolo, Barbera and smaller amounts of Pinot Noir, Arneis and Favorita. About 850 cases are produced annually, using traditional, chemical free viticultural and viniculture practices.
