...layers of pure Morello, raspberry, game and an intriguing slight musky scent. As usual at this nascent stage it is deceptively understated, but it blossoms in the glass.... supremely well focused... wonderful structure and symmetry...
Rich and fruity, displaying some reticence, this opens up in the glass with air. Features plenty of strawberry, raspberry and cherry, along with spice and mineral, converging on the long, refined finish.
...red berries, coffee, soy sauce & smoke... notes of raspberry and strawberry... De Villaine notes that the average age of vines here is lower at 35 years and that the final blend includes some fruit from 12-year-old vines.
...violets & rose petals, hoisin, soy & clove along with black pinot fruit, cassis & plum... exceptionally rich but brooding, intense & very serious... energetic & palate staining finish... this stunningly long effort is also quite fine...
Broad and rich on the nose – more obvious fruit and structure than the straight Échezeaux. Lively and racy on the palate with a real structural frame. Dense undertow.
