RATINGS

93James Suckling

...smoke, meat, blackberry and tar character. Full-bodied, round and juicy. White peppers and spices. Intense and flavorful. Delicious. Love the finish.

93Jeb Dunnuck

It offers lots of kirsch and blackberry fruits, spice, and herbes de Provence characteristics, medium to full body, tons of charm, and a fruit-loaded, ready to go style.

92Wine Spectator

Vibrant and expressive, with floral black cherry, cured meat and licorice notes that take on polish and depth toward refined tannins.

92Vinous / IWC

...pliant, supple and super-expressive wine with lifted aromatics and plenty of bright, red-toned fruit. Citrus and floral notes perk up this mid-weight, gracious Grenache-based blend from Favia.

REGION

United States, California, Sierra Foothills, Amador County

Sierra Foothills AVA is in the western foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, and it includes parts of eight counties. With total acreage of 2.6 million acres, and nearly 6,000 vineyard acres, it is one of the largest appellations in California. Wine grapes were planted in the foothills during the Gold Rush in the mid-19th century and the appellation was officially recognized in 1987. There are five sub-appellations within the Sierra Foothills region, and more than 100 wineries, most small and family-owned. Zinfandel is the most successful wine grape in this region, though Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay are also planted.
