RATINGS

99Wine Spectator

... revealing profound scents of violet, black currant, bilberry and licorice. Definitely meaty and solid—as the French would say, carrée --yet with great depth, richness and length, along with sweet fruit... like a well-tuned Ferrari..

99Burghound.com

...kaleidoscopic and dazzling...concentrated flavors...taut muscularity...I often use the word Zen to describe...a great vintage of Romanée-Conti...in 2005, the LT has this element of inner calm and grace...one of the all-time great LT's.

98-99The Wine Advocate

...epitomizes the unique mysteries of Pinot (not to mention the character of a great site), with its aromas of game, musk, iris, star anise, vanilla, allspice, and naturally also an abundance of sweet, ripe, implosively tiny-berried fruit.

96Stephen Tanzer

Superripe aromas of cherry, currant, tobacco and smoky, nutty oak, with traces of vanilla and sweet butter...

18.5+ Jancis Robinson

...Rich and luxurious, this has notes of lilies and other more exotic flowers...

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanee, La Tache

La Tache is a 14.4-acre Grand Cru monopole in the Cote de Nuits owned exclusively by Domaine de la Romanee-Conti. Until 1932 La Tache was a much smaller vineyard, but in that year the government allowed Domaine de la Romanee-Conti to buy the adjacent 11-acre Les Gaudichots vineyard. La Tache’s elevation is 255 to 300 meters and it has several kinds of soil including large amounts of limestone and clay.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, Grand Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
