Alban Vineyards is one of the original “Central Coast Rhone Rangers.” Robert Parker called Alban “the great shining success story of Edna Valley.” Sine Qua Non’s Manfred Krankl trained with John Alban, a celebrated winemaker, before starting SQN.
Verite was started by Jess Jackson in 1998. Jackson, who died in 2010, was a legend in California winemaking, With Verite, he wanted to make Bordeaux style reds and he brought in French winemaker Pierre Seillan to make his Verite wines.
Château Canon was founded by an 18th century French naval officer who made his fortune pillaging English trading ships. He built the château and planted his entire property to grapes. Today Canon is known for rich, full-bodied, muscular wines.
