Tinto Figuero is a family-owned producer located in one of the premier terroirs of the Ribera del Duero. It is owned and operated by Jose Maria Garcia and his wine Milagros Figuero, along with their adult children. Both parents came from vineyard-owning families in La Horra. But in the 1990s the family decided to create their own wines, rather than simply sell their grapes. Today the estate includes 200 acres of Tempranillo, with thirty percent of those vineyards planted to vines at least 60 years old. Vineyards are managed for very low yields and Tinto Figuero wines earn ratings in the low to mid-90s.
