Chateau de Bellevue

Chateau de Bellevue is in the Lussac St.-Emilion appellation. The estate dates its history as a wine-making enterprise to the 16th century, when the de Certan family of Chateau de Certan owned it and several other Bordeaux estates. Chateau de Bellevue changed hands after the French revolution and again in 1898, when it was owned and modernized by the proprietor of Chateau Grand Pontet. Since 1971 it has been owned and run by Andre Chatenoud, an oenologist with extensive international winemaking experience. The 30-acre estate has been certified as biodynamic since 2005 and it grows primarily Merlot, with small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Gris. The flagship wine is the Chateau de Bellevue Lussac St.-Emilion. Also produced are Les Griottes, a 100% Merlot, and Sauvignon Gris. Some 5,000 cases are made annually.
