RATINGS

90-93The Wine Advocate

On the palate, this complex, magnificently delineated, and precise wine is medium-to-full-bodied, harmonious and packed with gorgeously ripe pears and cherries. Its impressively long finish offers an elegant mineral and stone component.

90Stephen Tanzer

Apple, spearmint and oak spice on the nose. Fat, dense, ripe and honeyed; a pliant wine with firm supporting acidity and a solid minerally spine.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet, Sous le Puits

Sous Le Puits is a 16.8-acre Premier Cru vineyard in the Puligny-Montrachet appellation of Burgundy’s Cote de Beaune. It is up the slope and west of many of the appellation’s Premier Cru vineyards, and in fact wasn’t farmed as a vineyard until the mid-20th century, when the land was cleared of rocks and scrub. The elevation is 300 to 380 meters.

TYPE

White Wine, Chardonnay, 1er (Premier) Cru

This white variety originated in Burgundy, but is now grown around the world. Its flexibility to thrive in many regions translates to wide flavor profile in the market. Chardonnay is commonly used in making Champagne and sparkling wines.
