Woodside Vineyards is considered one of California’s first boutique wineries. Bob Mullen started making wine from one acre of grape vines in 1960, and three years later he started selling his wines commercially. Today, Woodside Vineyards manages 35 acres throughout Woodside and the surrounding areas. The flagship wine, La Questa Cabernet Sauvignon, comes from the legendary La Questa vines planted in 1884 from vines hand-carried from Bordeaux. Woodside Vineyards is still owned and operated by the Mullen family. Brian Caselden is winemaker. The estate produces Cabernet, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Dolcetto and Chardonnay, along with sparkling wine and port.
One of the most widely grown grape varieties, it can be found in nearly every wine growing region. A cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. It’s a hardy vine that produces a full-bodied wine with high tannins and great aging potential.
