RATINGS

95The Wine Advocate

Intense layers of minerality frame the fruit in this impeccable, pedigreed Perrieres...Today, it is super-impressive...The endless finish is simply breathtaking in its beauty.

93Stephen Tanzer

..Complex aromas of pineapple, lemon, toast and wet stone. Sweet, pliant and quite fine-grained, with nothing hard or austere about it. Most impressive today on the suave, very long finish, which offers elements of silex and toasted bread..

There is terrific delineation and detail to the caressing and overtly stony flavors that possess excellent energy on the still youthfully tangy finish.

PRODUCER

Louis Jadot

Maison Louis Jadot is one of Burgundy’s most respected negociants. Founded in 1859 by the Jadot family, the prestige and quality of the estate’s wines were well established in the 19th century. The family continued buying highly desirable vineyards in the 20th century. In 1985 the estate was sold to Rudy Kopf, Jadot’s American importer. Located in Beaune, the estate has 336 acres of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Gamay. Though all the maison’s wines are known for their high quality, signature wines are the Bonnes Mares, Chambertin-Close de Beze, Chevalier-Montrachet les Demoiselles, Corton-Charlemagne, Le Montrachet and Musigny. Pierre-Henry Gagey is president.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Beaune, Meursault, Les Perrieres

Les Perrieres is 34-acre Premier Cru vineyard in Meursault, in Burgundy’s Cote de Beaune. The vineyard includes several sub parcels. They are the 2.4-acre monopole Clos des Perrieres, which belongs to Domaine Albert Grivault, and Les Perrieres Dessous. Because Les Perrieres is in southern Meursault next to Puligny, the Les Perrieres Meursaults are considered to have more minerality than other Meursaults. Burgundy writer Clive Coates has noted that “Perrieres is perhaps the most elegant and persistent of the premier crus. At its best, it is positively brilliant…” Since Meursault lacks a Grand Cru, Meursault’s reputation for excellence is based on the Premier Crus, particularly the whites.

TYPE

White Wine, Chardonnay, 1er (Premier) Cru

This white variety originated in Burgundy, but is now grown around the world. Its flexibility to thrive in many regions translates to wide flavor profile in the market. Chardonnay is commonly used in making Champagne and sparkling wines.
