RATINGS

92Burghound.com

... suffused red pinot and raspberry aromas that introduce dense, sappy and balanced flavors that culminate in a sleekly muscled and beautifully focused finish. In a word, impressive.

91The Wine Advocate

...nose of bloody red meats, resin, and black cherry...palate is all in the realm of Pinot, with bright, faintly tart fruit accented by bitter fruit pit as well as saline and chalky mineral notes. This packs extract without having put on weight, and boasts an incipiently silky texture... Stones, fruit pits, subtle but deep meatiness, and bright, refined, bell clear fruit finish the picture.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Beaune, Beaune, Les Greves

Les Greves is a 75-acre Premier Cru vineyard in the central part of the Beaune appellation, in Burgundy's Cote de Beaune. Though Beaune has no Grand Cru vineyards, it has 44 vineyards that are either partly or completely Premier Cru. Clive Coates has written that in the central section of the Beaune appellation is “where you will find the finest examples of premier cru in Beaune.”

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, 1er (Premier) Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
