I found the 1990 to have a pervasive earthy, cinnamon, clove, sweet fruit-scented nose intermingled with scents of spicy new oak. Although closed, the wine exhibits great depth, medium to full body...
Extremely rich and ripe with explosive aromas of Vosne spice, earth and only a touch of secondary nuance followed by big, indeed even robust flavors that show good muscle but no rusticity...
...Chestnuts and vivacity, very firm and very slightly dusty super-ripe fruit. Great power and flourish though very slightly more rustic than the 1996. Long and winning, though notably robust!
Medium-full colour. Fine nose. Racy, lacy, intense, individual. Excellent fruit on the palate. Really lovely petits fruit rouges. Medium-full. Complex, discreet. Not powerful but very, very intense, long and persistent. Fine.
Domaine Marey Monge farmed out the Romanee St. Vivant vineyard to Domaine De La Romanee-Conti starting in 1966. In 1988 Domaine De La Romanee-Conti bought Domaine Marey Monge.
