RATINGS

95The Wine Advocate

Superb... very intense nose with blackberry, wild strawberry, cedar & graphite, gregarious & vivacious... firm grip, a lot of substance here with a keen thread of acidity. Multi-layered, fanning out marvellously on a fleshy, crisp finish...

94+ Robert M. Parker Jr.

...exhibits tell-tale black currant liqueur, incense, charcoal and floral-like characteristics. The oak is pushed to the background,...Full-bodied, deep and impressively endowed,..

94Wine Spectator

Pure, unadulterated Cabernet, with blackberry, black currant and fig fruit seamlessly held together by mouthwatering acidity, finegrained grip and backed by a long, smoldering finish of tobacco and iron. Dense but rounded...

94Vinous / IWC

...Flamboyant aromas of cassis, roast coffee, chocolate, minerals and smoky oak. Large-scaled, concentrated and sweet...Finishes with big, broad tannins and outstanding palate-staining persistence. One of the stars of the vintage.

18Jancis Robinson

...Lift and raciness and considerable aromatic appeal. Luscious texture. Nothing forced. Very luscious and silky. More accessible than many

REGION

France, Bordeaux, Pauillac

Pauillac is Bordeaux’s most famous appellation, thanks to the fact that it is home to three of the region’s fabled first-growth châteaux, Lafite-Rothschild, Mouton-Rothschild and Latour. Perched on the left bank of the Gironde River north of the city of Bordeaux, Pauillac is centered around the commune of Pauillac and includes about 3,000 acres of vineyards. The Bordeaux classification of 1855 named 18 classified growths, including the three above mentioned First Growths. Cabernet Sauvignon is the principal grape grown, followed by Merlot. The soil is mostly sandy gravel mixed with marl and iron. Robert M. Parker Jr. has written that “the textbook Pauillac would tend to have a rich, full-bodied texture, a distinctive bouquet of black currants, licorice and cedary scents, and excellent aging potential.”
