RATINGS

93Robert M. Parker Jr.

...has the biggest mouthfeel, with full-bodied, powerful creme de cassis notes intermixed with camphor, graphite, and Asian spice. Layered, thick, and rich, this wine showcases this extraordinary site beautifully.

93Wine Spectator

Engagingly complex and layered, this red is firm and intense, offering ripe currant, blackberry, plum and wild berry flavors. Full-blown, yet for all its power and thrust, graceful and detailed, ending with dense flavors.

PRODUCER

Sojourn Cellars

Sojourn Cellars in Sonoma was founded in 2001 when Craig Haserot and Erich Bradley decided to produce small quantities of Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. Bradley was an assistant winemaker at Arrowood Vineyards and Winery and is the head winemaker at Sojourn. The estate sources grapes from the Sonoma Coast and Rutherford, in Napa Valley. Sojourn’s Pinot Noirs have earned praise from wine reviewers, including Robert M. Parker Jr., who has often rated the wines in the low 90s. Sojourn also produces Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon from the legendary Beckstoffer Vineyard. Wines are made in limited amounts of a few hundred cases.

REGION

United States, California, Napa Valley, Rutherford, Georges III Vineyard

Georges III Vineyard was first planted in 1895 by Napa Valley Pioneer Thomas Rutherford. In 1928 it was purchased by Beaulieu founder Georges de Latour, whose winemaker, the famous Andre Tchelistcheff, used the vineyard to make BV’s Rutherford Cabernets. The 300-acre vineyard is in Rutherford and is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon. Beckstoffer Vineyards owns and farms more than 3,600 acres of highly prestigious grape growing vineyards in Napa Valley, Mendocino County and the Red Hills of Lake County. A senior executive with Heublein in the 1960s, Andy Beckstoffer is credited with steering Napa Valley vintners towards improving farming and the quality of the grapes used for wine. Grapes from any Beckstoffer vineyards are considered among the finest available in California.

TYPE

Red Wine, Cabernet Sauvignon

One of the most widely grown grape varieties, it can be found in nearly every wine growing region. A cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. It’s a hardy vine that produces a full-bodied wine with high tannins and great aging potential.
