96James Suckling

Complex nose of blackberries, currants, oyster shells, iodine, gravel, cloves, dried leaves and bark. Medium-bodied with firm, very fine tannins. Layered and serious. Extremely long in the finish.

95Wine Enthusiast

...succulent black fruits that are braced with tannins and a firm, spicy structure.

94The Wine Advocate

...aromas of wild berries, cassis, licorice, rose petals and sweet soil tones, followed by a medium to full-bodied, velvety and seamless palate, its powdery structuring tannins hidden in an ample core of lively, succulent fruit.

94+ Vinous / IWC

...gorgeous... Deep and translucent in feel...hints of crushed red berry fruit, mint, spice, rose petal and orange peel. I especially admire the overall energy and aromatic presence.

90Wine Spectator

...ripe, fresh and rather direct beam of cassis and bitter plum fruit lined with a bright iron note. Delivers a dash of savory on the sleek finish.

16.5Jancis Robinson

Busy and expressive on the nose with vineyard-fresh dark fruit, black-olive and mineral notes. Juicy and fresh on the palate with a fine grain of tannin behind.

France, Bordeaux, Pauillac

Pauillac is Bordeaux’s most famous appellation, thanks to the fact that it is home to three of the region’s fabled first-growth châteaux, Lafite-Rothschild, Mouton-Rothschild and Latour. Perched on the left bank of the Gironde River north of the city of Bordeaux, Pauillac is centered around the commune of Pauillac and includes about 3,000 acres of vineyards. The Bordeaux classification of 1855 named 18 classified growths, including the three above mentioned First Growths. Cabernet Sauvignon is the principal grape grown, followed by Merlot. The soil is mostly sandy gravel mixed with marl and iron. Robert M. Parker Jr. has written that “the textbook Pauillac would tend to have a rich, full-bodied texture, a distinctive bouquet of black currants, licorice and cedary scents, and excellent aging potential.”
